Jiayi Meng is an interdisciplinary artist working across digital art, fashion, performance, moving image and textiles. Her practice investigates how identity is temporarily produced, negotiated and reconfigured through interactions between bodies, objects, clothing, digital technologies and behaviour.

Rooted in posthumanism, embodiment and nomadic thought, her work explores how subjectivity is shaped through encounters between the body and the material world. She is particularly interested in how objects generate different physical responses, emotional states and projections of identity depending on how they are approached, held, worn and used.

Influenced by her cultural background and personal experiences, Meng’s practice is shaped by a nomadic sensibility that resists fixed labels and stable categories. She considers objects not as passive or singular in function, but as active entities capable of generating multiple forms of identity, behaviour and embodied experience through interaction.
